Designing a Car Storage Facility in Los Angeles
If we were anywhere outside Los Angeles, it wouldn’t have been so complicated. We could just buy an old building and move in, or throw up some corrugated steel. But here in Los Angeles, we have the risk of both fire and earthquake, and the restrictions governing washing cars. We have spent over 2 years renovating our South Bay location to not only meet, but exceed all the most recent Los Angeles earthquake, fire, and water use regulations. Taking the lessons we learned while constructing our original Playa Vista facility and applying those to our new South Bay location resulted in a facility that is fresh, modern, spacious, and state-of-the-art.
Some Fun Stats About Our Brand New Custom Built Car Structure:
We have two adjacent structures at WCCS South Bay. “Building 1” is complete and open, and can house 90 collector cars, each in an assigned space. “Building 2” is under construction and will feature storage space for 65 more cars, a full events center with a commercial kitchen, conference room, very large dining room, and lounge.
We have over 100 surface-level parking spaces outside, so we can easily host “Cars and Coffee” events, corporate rentals, parties, or commercial photo shoots.
Unlike other storage facilities, WCCS South Bay has seismic-rated footings for our car lifts, which prevent anything from moving during a possible earthquake.
The walls of the facility are concrete, and the windows have thick steel louvers for extra security.
Our fire suppression system will feature over 400 nozzles, and flow at more than 3,000 Gallons Per Minute.
Our state-of-the-art security system has over 35 cameras, covering every vehicle and every square inch of the storage area. This system is fully integrated with LAPD and LAFD monitoring.
